“ After months of children being home in isolation, creating a safe haven where they can continue to grow emotionally, socially and academically through nature is where I find endless hope for the future.”

What is your why?

Well, I am a Mom, and I have a strong-willed 2.5 year old daughter who will always be my “Why” she is the reason for everything I do. That being said, even before my daughter was born I have always found that laying the groundwork for hopes and ideas is what gives me purpose. I am a dreamer and a schemer. I need output, be it entrepreneurship, art, a craft, or creating community spaces; this is how I project my dreams, and this is where I feel truly happy.

Where do you find hope at this moment in time?

Almost exactly one year ago we had to shut down our School due to Covid 19. Uncertain on how to open safely we decided to go back to our roots; all of the staff attended Forest School training and now The Lindgren School is held outside about 90% of the day.
We have remained open for over 7 months, rain, snow, sleet or sun. I have felt truly honored to greet the smiling students each day, and work with the most talented, and resilient Teachers and staff members.
After months of children being home in isolation, creating a safe haven where they can continue to grow emotionally, socially and academically through nature is where I find endless hope for the future.

Now is the time for

Finding our identity.
I know I am not alone when I say this last year has been pretty freakin’ existential. I mean who hasn’t had to completely reinvent how they operate and ground themselves?

Now is the time for reevaluating who we are. I think many of us are also coming to terms with our privilege, understanding that there are real life consequences to being silent when there are social injustices happening all around us. Now is the time to know where your identity is in the face of systemic racism, the climate crisis and our basic health care needs.

Now is the time for self-reflection, action, and empathy for others.
